Terms & Conditions

The short version
You must be 18 or older. To keep Shookup real, we verify everyone — phone, a quick live selfie, and a face-uniqueness check.
Be honest, be kind, no scams. Break the rules and we can warn, limit, or ban you — and because your face is locked to your account, a ban sticks.
You stay in control of your data and can delete your account any time. These terms follow Indian law.
Hi, and welcome to Shookup — a casual-dating service for adults, operated by ZapperMash ("Shookup", "we", "us", "our"). These Terms are the agreement between you and us. By creating an account or using Shookup, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please don't use the app. We've tried to keep this in plain English.
1. You must be 18 or older
Shookup is strictly for adults. By using it you confirm you are at least 18 years of age and legally allowed to use a casual-dating service where you live. If we reasonably believe an account belongs to someone under 18, we will suspend or remove it. We do not knowingly allow minors, and there is no part of Shookup intended for children.
2. Verification — what we ask, and why
Our whole promise is "real humans only", so verification is a condition of using Shookup. As part of signing up (and sometimes again later), we may ask you to:
- Verify your phone number with a one-time code (one person, one account);
- Take a live selfie so we can confirm you are a real, present person — not a photo, a screen, or a deepfake;
- Let us match your face to your profile photos and check it is not already linked to another account;
- Optionally confirm you are 18+ through an Aadhaar-based age check that tells us only "yes" or "no" — never your Aadhaar number.
You agree to give accurate information and genuine photos of yourself. We may verify, re-verify, refuse, pause, or limit any account to protect the community. How we handle this data is explained in our Privacy Policy.
3. Your account
- Keep your account details accurate and your login secure.
- One account per person. Don't create fake or duplicate profiles.
- Don't impersonate anyone, and don't use bots or automation.
- You're responsible for what happens on your account.
4. Community rules — what's not allowed
To keep Shookup safe, you agree not to use it to do any of the following (this also reflects what Indian law and the IT Rules, 2021 require us to prohibit):
- harass, threaten, stalk, abuse, or harm another person;
- ask for money, run scams, phishing, or any kind of fraud;
- push people off-platform to pressure or deceive them, or solicit payment for meeting;
- share content that is sexually explicit involving minors, or anything obscene, defamatory, or unlawful;
- post hateful content or discriminate based on religion, caste, gender, sexual orientation, or similar grounds;
- engage in prostitution, trafficking, or any activity illegal under Indian law;
- impersonate others, infringe intellectual-property rights, or post content that threatens the unity, integrity, or security of India;
- collect, scrape, or misuse other members' personal information.
5. Bans & enforcement
If you break these rules, we may — depending on how serious it is — warn you, limit your visibility, suspend you, or permanently ban you, with or without notice. Because a verified face is locked to an account, a banned person cannot simply sign up again with a new profile.
If you think a decision was a mistake, you can appeal by contacting our Grievance Officer (section 10). We review appeals fairly, but the final call on who stays on the platform is ours.
6. Meeting people & your safety
Meeting someone from the internet carries real-world risk. Verification makes Shookup safer, but we do not run criminal background checks and we cannot guarantee anyone's behaviour. Please use common sense: meet in public first, tell a friend where you're going, look after your drink and belongings, and trust your instincts. You are responsible for your own interactions and decisions.
7. Content you share
You keep ownership of your photos and content. You give us a limited licence to host and display them so we can run the service. Don't post anything you don't have the right to share, and remember that what you share with other members is, well, shared.
8. Your rights & closing your account
You can stop using Shookup and delete your account at any time. You also have rights over your personal data — including access, correction, and erasure — as described in our Privacy Policy under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
9. Disclaimers & liability
Shookup is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for the conduct of any member, for interactions on or off the platform, or for indirect or consequential losses. Nothing here limits any liability that cannot be limited under Indian law.
10. Grievance Officer
In line with the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the IT Rules, 2021, you can reach our Grievance Officer for complaints about content, conduct, or your account:
- Grievance Officer: [Name to be appointed]
- Email: grievance@zappermash.com
We aim to acknowledge complaints within 24 hours and resolve them within 15 days, and to act on urgent safety reports faster.
11. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as Shookup grows or the law changes. If we make important changes, we'll let you know in the app. Continuing to use Shookup after an update means you accept the new Terms.
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Any disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts at our registered place of business in India.
13. Contact
Questions about these Terms? Email hello@zappermash.com.
This is a real agreement written in plain language. If anything here conflicts with applicable Indian law, the law applies. We recommend having it reviewed by a lawyer before public launch.
